This world was built live, as a cognitive-centaur experiment — a human and a large language model co-developing a story-world in conversation, with every decision captured in an Obsidian vault of interlinked markdown notes.
It began at Makers gonna Make — Episode 14, at The Melting Pot, Edinburgh, on Saturday 30 May 2026, 10:00–17:00 (event page). Rather than write the story first, we developed its underpinnings: the genre theory (a fantasy organised around a science-fictional novum), the economics and ecology of dragon-dung as an industrial fuel, the cast of perspectives, and the chains of consequence that follow from one accidental discovery.
The notes you can browse here are the actual working vault — not a tidied write-up. The graph shows how the ideas connect (each link is an Obsidian [[wikilink]]); the notes let you read them directly. Only once the ideas were developed did we draft the story itself (the other mode) — a first, complete iteration, written against the vault rather than ahead of it.
Each node is a note; each edge is a [[wikilink]]. Drag to explore; click a node to read it. Colours group by folder.
